Demo Reports – 18 & 20 November

SPEAK supporters have been active both in the city centre and outside Oxford University’s new animal torture lab this week in continuing efforts to highlight the suffering of animals inside the many labs run by this institution.

On Tuesday 18th there was a demo in Cornmarket Street, the main pedestrian Street in the city, where hundreds of people constantly hurry through every hour. As usual people were horrified when they became aware of what Oxford University are doing to animals in their hidden laboratories, and were keen to sign the petition against these barbaric practises. Young or old, rich or poor, local or from overseas, these distinctions made no difference to all those who share the concepts of decency and compassion.

Thursday 20th saw over twenty five SPEAK supporters outside the new animal torture lab where we have been week after week for the last 4 years. As usual the demo was loud and visuaal and attracted the attention of a number of people who wanted more information about the futility of animal experiments.

These regular Thursday demos send out a very clear message to Oxford University and all those within it who support their abuse of animals, that SPEAK is a campaign group which will keep on fighting against the animal suffering caused by this institution. No ifs, no buts, no compromise.
