Remembering Jill Phipps Demo Report – 1 February

Today’s demo was dedicated to Jill Phipps who sadly lost her life thirteen years ago while protesting against calves being flown out of Coventry airport to end up in veal crates. Jill was against all forms of animal abuse and fought for the rights of all animals to be free from pain, suffering and abuse. Unfortunately she paid the ultimate price when one of the lorries transporting the calves crushed her beneath the wheels when the driver failed to stop.

The SPEAK supporters who gathered at the edge of the exclusion zone held a minutes silence to remember Jill and to pledge to keep on fighting for all those animals who live in fear and pain. Jill would have never given up the struggle to end animal abuse, no matter how long and hard it may be, and neither must we. The animals have no-one but us to speak out for them and to fight for them.

For Jill, with the greatest love and respect from all at SPEAK.
