Site Demo Report - Thursday, 24th January

There was an impressive turnout for the Thursday site demo, with over thirty SPEAK Campaign supporters from all ends of the country coming together to register their disgust at the nearly completed building directly opposite where they were standing, whose opening can only serve to signal a huge increase in Oxford University’s already disgusting record of animal abuse and slaughter. It was very encouraging to see new faces at the demo alongside campaigners who have been there week in week out throughout the campaign so far, who have never wavered in their determination to see an end to the nightmare which every day must be for the innocent, sentient beings currently being tortured within university labs and to ensure that other animals are saved from the same fate.

The heavy handed policing of these demos does nothing more than fuel our determination to carry on, as does the university’s attempts to crush lawful protest within the city of Oxford through the High Court. We would like to assure the extremists of Oxford University who make their money through the brutalizing and terrorizing of animals, and all those who collaborate with them, that SPEAK will continue its lawful campaign against the university until vivisection within its laboratories is consigned to the history books and modern methods of research, that do not involve the infliction of pain and suffering on living creatures, are employed there.
