Stop this S**t

Demo report 4th October

Over 30 supporters of the SPEAK campaign re-grouped in Oxford to continue the fight against this institution of shame. The demonstration split into two groups; one group maintaining their presence in the designated protest area which the university had spent so much money in the High Court trying to pen us into, whilst the other group moved outside the exclusion zone lawfully to exercise their true right to protest.

As the demonstration unfolded, one of Oxford University's finest cycled by and purposely directed the words "why don't you f**k off" at demonstrators, a gesture no doubt honed with years of academic discipline and lots of study. Campaigners, however showed their own level of mental discipline by not stooping to issuing a retort of similar sentiment and instead kept their focus on getting their message across to the public.

Demo 4th October 07Following the minor outburst by the cyclist, the masked extremists in the employ of Oxford University emerged from the site to usher in another lorry carrying supplies for the animal abuse lab. The masked crusader carrying the STOP sign had obviously been up all night trying to think of some way in which he could demonstrate his mental prowess, and his effort manifested itself with the words 'This S**t' being inserted after the word 'STOP' on the sign. That this kind of display from anyone acting as the public face of Oxford University would be tolerated by university officials is an indication, if one was ever needed, of just how low this institution has sunk and how little they care about the public's opinion of them. However, it is also an indication that, despite what the university and these workers would want us to believe, they know that what they are engaged in is ultimately wrong and our presence acting as a constant reminder of this is obviously foremost on their minds.

Throughout the entire time, the gentle and trusting face of Felix silently stared out at this scene in contrast to the day's events, which would have been almost comical if it were not for the sobering fact that he was put to death after living a life of misery, and that countless thousands like him will continue to suffer and die whilst Oxford continues to pursue immoral and outdated scientific research methods.
